Charlie Chaplin: Actor, Director... and Inventor of Time Travel?

Charlie Chaplin was famous for a lot of things in his day, but being a scientific pioneer wasn't one of them. However, one fan claims to have located footage of a cell phone being used on the set of The Circus. Not bad for 1928! The only possible explanation? Ok the guy is clearly mad but even if she had a mobile / cell phone and even if she was a time traveller wouldn't that phone need some sort of network to actually work ?
